Lascia ch'io pianga. Georg Friedrich Haendel (1685-1759) By Valérie Duchâteau – This aria from the opera “Rinaldo” (1711) is, in reality, an earlier work taken from the oratorio “Il trionfo del tiempo” (1707). In F major, at 3/2 (the half note is the unit of time), it is played with restraint and sobriety. A word of advice: absolutely avoid the guitarist's habit of systematically arpeggiating the chords at the beginning. Between measures 23 and 30, the theme is played in right-hand harmonics. We placed a capo on the third fret during the recording.
