Bolero- Julián Arcas (1832-1882) By Valérie Duchâteau – Julián Arcas is one of the most important guitarists of the late 19th century. He was notably the teacher of the young Francisco Tárrega (who would have plagiarized his master extensively a few years later) and participated in the development of violin making by exchanging many times with Antonio de Torres. We owe to Arcas some fifty original works and thirty transcriptions. In A minor, this bolero is a character piece that is played at a moderate tempo.
