Two Sevillanas-Traditional Spanish By Estelle Bertrand As its name suggests, the Sevillana is a dance originating from Seville. It is traditionally played in groups of four and custom dictates that between each dance, the couples remain motionless, arms in the air. Our two dances, respectively in A minor and D major, alternate rhythmic (in chords) and melodic passages. To properly perform the rasgueado with the index finger, it is advisable to place the thumb on the sixth string: your hand will thus be stabilized. As for the song, it is played in buté.
