Turkish March-68 Excerpt from “Sonata No. 11,” K. 331 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) By Valérie Duchâteau. Excerpted from “Sonata No. 11,” K. 331, this Turkish March is the third and final movement. It is also a testament to a time when the influence of the Ottoman Empire had an impact even in the Austrian capital. Mozart’s work also contains other traces of pastiche, such as his Violin Concerto No. 5, nicknamed the “Turkish Concerto,” or his opera The Abduction from the Seraglio, which tells the story of her fiancé’s attempted kidnapping of a young woman held prisoner in a Turkish palace.
